I got stuck at my computer this morning. In the midst of revising I decided I need to change directions in my story and cut out a rather large section, but I didn’t know how. The more I tried, the more difficult it became.
The only thing that kept me in my chair was the promise to stop after 500 words. I’m glad I stayed in my chair. T
he revised portion is not perfect, but it shortens this loping novel and speeds the story closer to its necessary end. 37,000 words in.
I’m hoping to stay beneath 50,000 on this second rewrite. Not the best day today, perhaps tomorrow.
